After finishing this book, I'm really confused about what seemed like a lot of hype and positive reviews for it. To me, at least, the book was incredibly repetitive, scenes playing out in small variations on the same thing over and over. The lead character's story is uninteresting, and the author often seemed more interested in writing about the settings in the book than in building out a compelling and satisfying story or arcs for its characters. The author also links having a brain tumor to being crazy multiple times, which is a sentiment I'm really surprised an editor didn't steer her away from.

For the audiobook specifically, the read is also hit-or-miss. The narrator's read is choppy, with pauses seemingly in the middle of sentences. After about half of the book, I just sped the audio up to 1.5x to power through the rest of the book because I'd already invested more than 4 hours.
