I’m giving this book 3.5 stars because it was a very entertaining read. The creatures and the suspense definitely got me. I felt chilly and on edge while listening.
That being said, the only reason this was sad was because of

These characters are so unlikeable that I was rooting for the creatures.
I’m not a fan of this author at all. The use of a joke about Trans people, absolutely no diversity in the characters, and super misogynistic narration was not only terrible but also distracting. I was convinced this was written by some incel. I highly encourage this author to educate themself on these issues. Since this was from 2013 I would be willing to check out one of her new books because the suspense was definitely there.
