Rock Chick Rescue by Kristen Ashley
3.0

3.8 stars. Ok I’m liking this series more as I read them. As I’m bringing to understand the pattern and develop connections between the characters.
There were a few repetitive bits in this book - much is the attitude of the ‘rock chick’ as well as the attitude of the guy trying to protect her. Though this I’ve concluded that all ‘Rock Chicks’ share a single brain cell that encourages danger and not listening to the boyfriend that seems much more capable of taking care of whatever problems/danger that these ‘Rock Chicks’ get into.
I have also discovered I love Daisy and would very much like to read her story. I want to know how she got involved to Marcus and I want to know her story - apparently even more hectic then these two previous book.
Jet was a pretty cool character, having a better appreciation for her attitude and her survival instincts (or lack there of). I do wish that there had been a little more focus on building the relationship with Eddie. With the previous book it was easier to overlook because they had grown up together and knew each other for so long that they didn’t need to ‘get to know’ each other. However, in this book Jet literally meets the crew in the last chapter of the last book (or the first chapter of this book). So they do need to get to know each other, which I kind of feel they didn’t really. Everything moved very quickly - which makes sense since these books only take place within like two weeks - even though it seems like way longer.
I also much admit I didn’t like Jet’s daddy issues. She was constantly saying she was boring and didn’t really believe in herself. She also didn’t believe she was worth Eddie’s time and efforts. As well as those of all her new friends who love hard and protect their own (which I love). I wouldn’t have minded this so much if it let up towards the end of the book. But pretty much til the last page she was determined to leave everyone behind because she thought she was boring and plain (which doesn’t make sense to me) but also didn’t do her character growth justice. There wasn’t really a cliche moment of her being like omg everyone loves me and I love all of them. She does end up with Eddie of course, which makes it even stupider that she’s so reluctant to allow love into her life.
Overall I enjoyed this book. It wasn’t an intense read, but fun and fairly long - which is a nice change of pace. Lots of drama and adventure and danger.
