Mad Honey by Jennifer Finney Boylan, Jodi Picoult

god this book.
At first when I discovered this book I thought it was gonna be a regular little suspense novel about a dead girl and her boyfriend on trial for the murder so because of that I put it off for the longest time and never gave it a chance and god do I hate myself for that. This book was so beautiful and heart wrenching in a way I haven’t felt in a long time. I absolutely loved Lily and her background and everything she went through was so heartbreaking to read I found myself needing to pause the audiobook a few times to cry, and cry I sure did for Lily. I know that Lily is a character I’m gonna be thinking about for a long time and I hope everyone who reads this book learns a little something or even gains a little empathy for the struggles trans people have to go through everyday. I, myself, have never known much about transgender people but that doesn’t mean Ive never seen the horrors that they face time and time again especially this past year with all these laws wanting to basically erase them and make their life’s ten times harder. I’m glad I read this book because being written by a trans women I felt like I was learning a lot and I’m so grateful. Overall, fantastic book and characters who I know will stay with me for a long time.❤️
