All Grown Up
by Vi Keeland
This book was an emotional roller-coaster ride. I found myself laughing, tearing up, laughing again, actually crying then being touched by Ford's reactions. Safe to say this book made me into a mess. I was in a need of a pick-me-up and this book helped a lot. I find that romances like these give me hope for the future (not that I'm in a bad place or anything). They serve as a small reminder of the wonders life can offer.
Originally, my thoughts regarding the rating were at three stars - the story was a tad generic at the beginning. Val's hold-backs were appropriate but it also felt like a weak story mechanic to prolog the tension between the characters. The second half of the book changed that though. I usually don't like the parts of the book where the couple faces a huge turning point, but for some reason this one hit me hard. As mentioned with the crying above.
I like my romances with a story - no straight up erotica/smut. Vi Keeland once more delivered just that. So far it seems her co-written books are less smutty in comparison to her solo work. Even then, the steamy scenes were well balanced here. The characters felt real, and I could easily connect to them. Flew through the book in a couple of hours.
