Frozen by Michael johnston
This book number 1 is absolutely beautiful. And the story was gripping.
We follow 2 people a girl called nat who is special and trying to get to a hidden land on a destroyed earth and Wes the guy willing to risk everything to take her there for the good pay that it will bring him.
In this world there are people with extraordinary gifts which the government want to hunt and kill because of their powers. They are different from standard humans sometimes in their hair colour but the one biggest giveaway is their eyes, they stand out, being bright unusual colours. Usually their eyes tell what powers they have and can use, but Nats, Nats are different, she can hear a voice inside her head, guiding her. She can use different powers not just one, but she can't just summon them, she can't control them fully, not yet, but the voice inside her is guiding her helping her.
We follow them both on an adventure out of Vegas, where there is nothing but cold snow and icy weather, its never ever warm there, into the forgotten and dangerous wasteland that exists outside the borders and government patrol, as they try and find the forbidden blue land said to be of warmth and magic.
I loved the danger, the suspense of not know what was going to happen next, the small budding romance and the mystery.
It was a very good and captivating book, and I cant wait to read the rest of the trilogy
