This is the first book by Neal Shusterman I've read, and I'm thrilled to say it will not be the last!
Scythe takes on a truly paradoxical question in the first of the Scythe series: If humans no longer died of natural mortality, would we still try to kill each other? He approaches what existence would look like in a post-mortal world. Making each question of morality more though-provoking than the last.
With a broad spectrum of characters, all grey in their own ways, I was pleased with most of them. Even the big bad I found believable and terrifyingly true to nature. Each with an agenda that feels out of reach by the giants in the scythedom. Yet, when we're given a glimpse into the truth, they feel far more human than we were initially led to believe. Neal has a way of telling the story in a way that is simply read, but so complex and leagues deeper the further you read.
All this to say, I would gladly live under the protection of the Thunder Head.
