A beautiful and melocholy novella set in an Asian steppes inspired world where hunters use Rocs to hunt man-eating Manticores. And you're going to be all like, "but Ron, you're a bird person, of course you liked this." Well actually, I have complicated feelings about the ethics of falconry, but this story acknowledged those issues very well. And the way the drama played out was excellent too.
