The Battle of Jedha by George Mann
4.0
adventurous inspiring fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Diverse cast of characters: Yes

It wasn’t quite what I was expecting from an audio drama titled “The Battle…” - it starts with the “actual” start of the battle (an explosion at a meeting) and then immediately jumps three days back and spends most of its time in the lead up to the battle (including other explosions and attacks that the story does not consider part of the battle). And then the actual Battle of Jedah is 1 of the 6 parts of the story. I get it; if the entire thing was just the battle, it would get tedious. But with the titular battle being such a small part, it seems like maybe it could have been better served by a different title (which wouldn’t be as enticing) or a different story structure so that the battle did take place across the entire thing with breaks in the action?
That being said, it was a zippy little adventure.
(I’ll add: I was frustrated by there being a Jedi named Creighton and a bartender named Kradon and everyone pronounced them the same way and Kradon talked in the third person and often referred to himself in a way that made it confusing about “maybe” he meant Creighton? So be careful if you listen!)
