There are layers to this, and the author beautifully lets you interpret them in the way you need to. Struggles with perfectionism, preforming for the sake of making others proud, body image issues, trying to seem more upper class than you are, and forcing yourself to do things because “it’s right” - I think this book is beautiful. Not perfect, but beautiful. It’s a good reminder wrapped in something fun.

If you like weird girl books, enjoy delicious food writing like in A Certain Hunger, and reading about women slowly descending into a madness only other women can relate to, you’ll enjoy this book.

Sidebar: it doesn’t matter what Kit did. We can infer all we want. But not telling is a great narrative tool to reflect how Piglet doesn’t want to think or talk about it, as well as displaying that this isn’t about Kit. It’s about Piglet.
