This one had such great potential but was such a flop. The ambiance of this book was excellent at producing horror, but the story and the characters both just didn’t work. I think the main reason this lost me was that I think it followed the wrong protagonist - if this book followed the scientists slowly unveiling the mysteries, it could have been so cool. Instead, every couple chapters the scientists did lore drops explaining everything to the main character in videos, diaries, or monologues because he couldn’t figure it out himself. Also, the backstory parts consistently ended any momentum the story had.
