Kill the Farm Boy by Kevin Hearne, Delilah S. Dawson
4.0

This was a funny spoof on the traditional "white male fantasy" story. It made me laugh out loud a few times though not as much as I expected. However, its situations were ridiculously humorous. The writing is delightfully amusing. The characters are unique and most definitely a mixed bag of motivations and personalities. I mean, our "chosen one" to start the story with is named Worstley (his older brother? Bestley). We also have a Dark Lord with an obsession for artisanal crackers and cheese. And quite often the most unexpected things happen.
SpoilerThe authors aren't afraid to kill a character every now and then.

While there were lots of elements to enjoy, there were a lot of sexual innuendos that it became almost eye-rolling at their abundance in some chapters. There was also a LOT of pooping. I get that one of our characters is a goat and he's going to leave pellets everywhere, but it got to be a bit much a few times. Some elements needed a bit of moderation.

Overall, the book was entertaining, unexpected, a bit on the childish poop-fart side, but with memorable characters and settings. It's a series I'd read more of.
