The Genesis of Misery by Neon Yang

Did not finish book. Stopped at 60%.

I really, really was looking forward to this book, and I'm really disappointed that it didn't work for me. I read far more of this than I probably should have since I was feeling like I didn't really care from very early in the book. The world building was fantastic, and the characters were mostly interesting, but I was just competely un-invested in the plot.
