Fighting the Pull by Kristen Ashley

4.5

This was such a great addition to a series I am really coming to love and cherish. I love how this series came to be and I love how it's continuing. It's truly a series I will be very sad to see come to end one day in the future (hopefully no time soon). As for this particular book, I've truly been waiting for Hale's book since I read the first book in this series, and this book did not disappoint me in the slightest.

If you're new here, I absolutely love a broken/tortured hero, and Hale fits that to a tee. Hale has got a complicated past, a big part of that being his relationship with both of his parents, one of which died prior to the start of this series, and not in the easiest of ways. The topics this book explores are definitely on the heavier side, but I loved how they were handled. They were 100% handled with care and understanding, and that is everything I could have wanted for this book and character.

I loved how the relationship between Hale and Elsa developed over the course of the book. I never would have picked Elsa for Hale when I first started this series, but she really was the perfect partner for him. I loved the growth we got to see from Hale. I loved the conversations we got to see between Hale, Tom, and Ginny. I loved the found family vibes of this book, and the protective nature of Hale. I love how Elsa didn't let Hale get away with anything and how she stood up for herself. Just... everything about this book was truly great. I'm very excited to see what Kristen has in store for us with the next book in this series.
