Did not finish book. Stopped at 53%.

I tried to hard to like this one. Especially since it’s my bookclub’s pick for this month. But alas, I could not force myself to read through this any longer. I did not vibe with the writing style. The pacing was off. The characters all fell flat for me. I was bored and felt like nothing really was actually happening. Most of everything was being told to the reader rather than shown. There was far too much descriptive imagery for every single possible thing. And this is coming from a reader that adores descriptive imagery. It just was not for me. DNF @ 269 pages.
