Shadow of the Wicked is a fast paced, dark fantasy novella with some very vivid and descriptive writing. There were some stylistic points that threw me off a little, but the plot was promising.
While I didn't feel connected with the characters, I appreciated their backstory and the conflict between two brothers living on very opposite sides - one being a magic user and the other committed to ridding the world of magic.
I do wish the magic system were more fleshed out but this being such a short book, I can see why it may not have been. I found some of the writing to feel awkward at points but at others I felt more pulled into the story. Overall I would be interested in seeing more of the world the author has created.
