The Go-Giver: A Little Story About a Powerful Business Idea by Bob Burg

5.0

It's just as the title says—short and powerful. Reading the Go-Giver gave form to much of what I've always felt. There has always seemed to be a direct link between giving and success. I can even see in my own life where providing for others benefitted me and where providing for myself didn't. This story took this feeling and made it concrete. I now understand how this phenomenon works and why it works.

As a result, I am excited and motivated to get myself out of the picture and focus on providing value for others. It hasn't even been 24 hours since I finished the book and I am already switching the focus of my conversations to others—and they are more enjoyable! One of the biggest lessons I learned from the Go-Giver is that what you receive is directly related not just to how much value you provide, but how many people you impact as well. Just as Joe in the story felt, I always thought it unfair that many of the people who do 'good' work—teachers, charity workers, firemen, etc.—don't receive adequate compensation. But now I understand that higher payoffs are just a result of making an impact with more people. So if I want to make more, all I have to do is give more value to more people. Overall it was an enjoyable, inspiring and easy read. I will definitely revisit it and recommend it to anyone and everyone
