An epic, feminist dual-timeline saga following two women after they've been wronged by men in their lives. In Australia in 2019, Lucy's world is turned upside down when she wakes up to find herself in her ex-boyfriend's dormitory, violently choking him. She turns to her older sister, Jess, for help and goes on an adventure to find her.
In Ireland in 1800, Mary and her sister, Eliza, are convicted of assaulting a man and are forced to sail to Australia as prisoners. The squalid, inhumane conditions of the cargo hold force them to lean on the other captive women.
Well-paced, heartfelt and cohesive. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as Weyward but would still recommend it!
TW: sexual assault, domestic violence, physical violence, pedophilia
