I was one of those people who remember enjoying the movies and thinking, man I should really read this series. I know that the books are generally better than the movies but WOW my opinion on the movies have definitely changed.
I finished this book and decided to re-watch the first film because now that I have actual knowledge of the way the book played out, I was interested in seeing the differences (mind you, I hadn't seen the first movie since it originally came out). Needless to say, I had to stop the movie before even hitting the 10 minute mark. I was beyond frustrated at the sheer amount of changes that happened even during that short amount of time. I couldn't even watch the rest of it because of how far off from the original book it was.
So let's just say this, Rick is very good writer. The story was extremely well-written and the character were really carved out. The story itself and the way it un-folded was just great storytelling. I am currently reading through this series and am on the second book. I highly recommend giving this series a try, especially if you are interested in Greek Mythology. So very good.
