The Hook-Up Experiment by Emma Hart
3.0

3 stars...or 3 and a quarter??? It would be a bit more because I rather enjoyed it and I certainly loved Peyton as a character but I found the editing/grammatical/spelling errors too irritating to look over them. It just feels like parts of this book weren't even edited because of things like typos, which takes away from the reading experience.

The story itself was entertaining, sexy and not too angsty - a reoccurring theme for this author, it seems. I liked the characters and although I haven't found their chemistry off-the-charts (but it was there!), I enjoyed their interactions. Peyton was a delight to me - a woman who is independent, knows what she wants and isn't ashamed to admit it/take it. More than that, she's all about the hook-ups and it not looking for anything serious, likes casual sex and doesn't want to have children. It's so rare to have a heroine like this in romance novels and that's why I always find it refreshing. Seriously, I can rarely relate with a character on a level I did with Peyton.

Apart from this, I also appreciated Elliott's attitude in all this, regarding his daughter. After he and Peyton got together, he made it clear that he didn't expect her to fill the role of Bryony's caretaker, babysitter, mother or anything like that. I really liked that he didn't pressure her into something Peyton wasn't ready for and that they let the things take their course.

To sum up, perhaps this wasn't top-notch quality writing-wise but it was fun nonetheless.
