Day by Elie Wiesel

2.0

"In Night it is the 'I' who speaks; in the other two [narratives], it is the 'I' who listens and questions." - Elie Wiesel

Much like Dawn (Night #2), Day (originally titled The Accident) is only tangentially related to the eponymous book. This is a fictional novella about holocaust survivor getting hit by a taxi in NYC and the suffering that comes afterward. Essentially, Wiesel's point is that a holocaust survivor is not capable of hope, trust, faith, or love. The book is incredibly bleak. At its best, it reminds of Camus. However, the dream-like quality and lack of narrative didn't hold my attention.
