X-Men Gold, Vol. 1: Back to the Basics by Marc Guggenheim

4.0

This was very enjoyable; it had everything I love about X-men: character development, action, political schemes. I don't have much else to say really, it's just a solid, fun read.

I didn't love the artwork for the first few issues, but it wasn't bad. The costumes are't very exciting, and though I love the idea of Kitty with short hair, it looked awful how it was drawn to begin with. Though, I recall Syaf was dismissed for a controversy, but the details are blurry in my memory now, so whatever. At any rate, I was very pleased to see R. B. Silva turn up in issue 6; I always enjoy their style. They fixed Kitty's hair, and I love how Gambit looked.
