Gouda Friends
by Cathy Yardley
This book is the 2nd book in the series of Ponto Beach but follows new characters and a different plot. This story follows Tam and Josh who have been best friends for a very long time, Understanding each other with their trauma and being there for each other when needed. They also have a group of friends who care for them, however Tam loses the connection with all these people when she begins to date. This story is about finding yourself and reconnecting with the people you love.
This was an easy ready and easy to follow along, however I did not love this book. I understand that Tam really likes cheese but it got a bit overdone with the jokes that it became a cringe part of the story and then I started to dislike Tam because of the constant cringe. Josh was an interesting character because he had worked his way up and found what he wanted to do in life and has achieved what he wanted and he did seen like a nice character, very thoughtful and caring of his friends which I did like about him. With Tam, I did not vibe with her because at times she was immature, but I just couldn't connect with her very well. The relationship between Tam and Josh seemed very sudden, to have progressed like that was way too fast and I could not imagine being such close friends, reuniting and then sleeping with each other so fast, it was a whirlwind and hard to process. It was not the gradual best friends to lovers that I usually would enjoy. I wish there was more background on the friend group but mainly on Tam and Josh so that you could understand better their love for each other because I feel as though the book did not go into that deeply enough
