One of Us Is Lying
by Karen M. McManus
I can see how, if I read this as a tween, teen, or even twentysomething, I’d go gaga. The story is compelling enough, though some exhausted tropes are grating. And even for a YA, the writing is boringly simple, although it perfectly captures era/semi-decade mid-Two Thousand Teens (2013-2019)... as far as tech, social media, American culture, etc. Some YA transcends age, this doesn’t, but that’s okay. I recommend this for ages 12-25.
