Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver

4.0

Barb has done it again with a lovely novel of ecology and community, goving us a side dish of biology lessons to go along with the human stuggles and heartache. These three storylines each kept me turning pages and rooting for their solitary characters to find each other. The last chapter may be one of my favorite book endings of all time. I usually don't mind the sanctimonious tone of her books, but there were times were it pulled me out of this one and felt too much like the author's defense of her own life and beliefs and a bit out of step with the characters, but she writes so well I eat it all up.
