Supernova Era
by Cixin Liu
I was going to rate this lower and then I read the Afterword and it helped clarify a lot of what I had read. From an original idea perspective, this book is great. Kinda along the lines of Lord of the Flies but with a different of a twist. It was the actions of the kids that I just found too over the top and unbelievable, but as an adult, that might actually be the point haha (no spoilers). But I definitely could detect the stereotyping, and not far off either, of each nation but it was interesting to see how his view of the western countries was given as he himself is Chinese. Not sure I fully comprehend the great migration, either I missed part of the point, the translation didn't convey it properly or culturally it make little sense to me. But overall a good read considering he started writing it 30 years ago in a very different era of Chinese society and then translated. Not his best work but if you like his original thinking, worth the read.
