Tchaikovsky does love his spiders, doesn't he?
Dumping some disorganized thoughts upon finishing:
I thought this was a fascinating novel. Agree with other reviewers that it was a bit meandering at times and the human characters were a bit flat, but Tchaikovsky once again does some really cool biological science fiction and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also found the centuries-long, multigenerational element fascinating, seeing how far both spiders and humans come from the outset of the book -- and how little, in some regards. Also fascinating how he uses the spiders and humans as foils of each other in certain ways, and balances the desperate need to survive of both species. I was genuinely worried/stressed about both, wanting both humans and spiders to survive and unable to see how they both could.
