The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis

4.0

4.5/4.75
let's be honest this is my favorite of the series so far. Closely followed by then the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe but definitely ahead.
it's actually a little surprising. You can tell this is C. S. Lewis' writing, but it's somehow extra magical than The 4 before it. The islands they go to are such an adventure - and for (in my opinion) middle-grade book, it has some good messages to take with you. You somehow get to know almost all of our main characters more than I have before-feeling some heartache for Lucy, irritation
Spoiler and eventually appreciation,
for Eustace, and the other's personalities more. It packed adventure in quite fully, and started to it quickly at the beginning.
this was the fastest I've read one of these books so far. I didn't get stuck like in Prince Caspian, but actually helped me get back into reading books at a quicker pace.
we met some new characters who are very interesting, and all of the islands they go to are very diverse in adventures.
Spoiler that ending was awesome, yet a little heart wrenching, for the kids and even Reep and Caspian. hearing from Aslan in this book himself that The Pevensie kids will never return was so sad. And when Reep sailed over the wave, they mentioned the kids somehow knowing this is how fate would have it, & I got the sense of just knowing he was happy and Aslan's country, peaceful. yet I don't really feel like I know why he wanted so bad to go there. We only get a vague idea.

I had some problems with the writing in this, and some grammar problems I usually have with this series, and some of what happens did upset me slightly- enough to be noticed- hence the lack of 5 stars. But overall I did really enjoy this book. It got me excited for the last two.
