lordslaw 's review for:
Richard II
by William Shakespeare
This is the first time I've used a New Folger Library edition to read a work by Shakespeare. Although it is pocket-paperback size, the book contains a significant and useful quantity of introductory and critical material, historical context, notes, and illustrations. I particularly liked the editorial emphasis on the play as a staged event, not just a text to be read. The play itself is absolutely brilliant.
