I remember reading the abridged version of this as a kid, and absolutely loved it. I read it so much and enjoyed every moment of it. I finally picked up this copy of the book, and to my surprise, I found that I didn’t enjoy it as much. First off, the religious passages in this book was abundant and almost too much for my liking. I’m not opposed to religion in books, as it gives insight to characters, time periods, and the author. However, I found that the passages were quite flowery and a bit too much. But I absolutely loved Heidi’s infectious good nature and fun spirit. Though I didn’t like this version as much, it definitely did not take away from the fond memories I have of this book in an abridged format.
