The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion; Vol. 3 by Beth Brower

5.0

Enjoying this series - while a couple decades after my beloved P&P, this has a similar feel, with prides and prejudices abounding. While the journal presentation isn't absolutely authentic (some of the dialog is definitely written by a writer, not your average Emma penning her daily events) other times it IS reading like a journal. It has interesting shifts in tense, from basic past tense tellings, to present pondering, and futuristic imaginings.

This installment (I think they will all blend together for me) we have Emma and Archibald (a questionable connection) competing and following clues to win tickets to a local play. An accident/injury. More communication through the wall with The Tenant, even up to and including an open window and a rented studio space and additional interactions.   There's also Young Hawkes, Roland, Jack and Islington - The Duke of ... I anticipate romance at some point, but with who?

Aunt Eugenia entertains - even if she doesn't mean to.

While I wish this was in audio format so I could speed through it a bit faster - I am glad to have the kindle copy available to highlight all the cute quips and funny statements, as well as the profound thought here and there. The use of Capital Letters.

I've been invited to a bookclub discussion - it seems I should attend, no?
