Taming the Storm by Samantha Towle
3.0

This was an ok read. I liked the premise. Manwhore rockstar meets girl rockstar who has stricken off men causing lots of sexual tension. A classic storyline but one I enjoy.

But.

I didn't really feel that there was much substance to their affection other than they liked each others bodies. I wanted a bit more of them becoming friends. I felt a lot of the dialogue was filled with one liners and cliches. How many eye rolls can I do?

I felt a slight disconnect with the sex scenes. They were hot but I wasn't quite feeling it at times. Tom was a bit too much of an alpha asshole a lot of the time which just made me want to kick him in the balls.

I also felt the storyline waned a bit. There was a lot of arguing and mis understanding about the characters getting together with other people. It's fine once but it seemed to just repeat a bit and gave the characters a juvenile feel. There was lots of potential for storylines to evolve around Lyra's father Rally or her ex Chad, but these never came to much. And I really felt down about Dex's storyline. It was just too sad and I didn't feel that Lyra said the right thing at all when he was at his lowest ebb. It made me lose some respect for her. Add that to the slight cheating element at the end and it just leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

I am not opposed to cheating storylines if it is handled well but it never is so i always feel it's best left out. Lyra just comes across as weak in this situation. Forgiveness vs weakness is just a very complex thing so best left out IMHO.

But after all that, it was an ok read. I have not read the others in this series but I plan to now.
