The Greatest Thing by Sarah Winifred Searle
5.0

I think this was a really cute book of bisexual self-discovery that will feel really relatable to teens. The plus sized rep was A++, the queer rep was great – I particularly loved how April and Oscar were portrayed. I think April’s as non-binary/GNC rep is phenomenal and I loved Oscar as male bi rep and also the biphobic remarks he has to deal with. I really loved the lesson that Win learns– it’s not about friends being able to “save” each other, it’s more about being there and supporting each other that really matters. That was a really important lesson for me to learn as a teen and it’s one this book will be able to impart on the teens that read it.

Now there are some things that I didn’t like. The self-harm stuff seemed very sudden, rushed, and thrown in. At the same time, Win’s eating disorder isn’t really addressed the way the rushed self-harm stuff is, so I really found that strange.

However, I do think its strengths outweigh those weaknesses, so it's five stars for me because I liked it that much
