God Help the Child by Toni Morrison

3.0

I read this a few months after reading The Bluest Eye, which was my first time reading Morrison's work. To be honest, The Bluest Eye seemed like it could have been her latest novel and God Help the Child could have been her first.

I thought the plot line was really under developed and the chapters too
short for the characters to be understood well. The only character I feel like I actually got to "know" was Bride's ex boyfriend. Not really sure what the relevance of the mom, best friend, or Queen was. Maybe I didn't understand the novel because it's my second Time reading Morrison but I felt underwhelmed and much was left to be desired by the time I read the last page..
