The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa

5.0

Found injured, Na Na was taken in by Satoru, a warm-hearted human who took a liking towards Na Na as he got reminded of his previous cat. Na Na and Hachi (Satoru's previous cat) looked alike and suffered in similar ways which struck Satoru deep emotionally. Unfortunately, Satoru fell ill and couldn't take care of Na Na anymore hence his travelling cat chronicles begin. Na Na meets Satoru's old friends but failed to connect with them.

"As we count up the memories from one journey, we head off on another. Remembering those who went ahead. And someday, we will meet all those people again, out beyond the horizon."

This book has been quite a fulfilling one -- we read from a cat's pov and with one look you KNOW that he's the sassy, fiery-spirited kind. Na Na is also brave and endures all the hardships that falls in his lap. I won't lie and admit honestly that I've teared up alot whilst reading it. I'd like to read this a couple more times. Truly, this showcases our human-animal connections and the importance they play in our lives.
