The Singer of Apollo by Rick Riordan
4.0

As a Percy Jackson story, this is as good as it gets. Adventure, humour, a dash of danger with fun along the way!
I read this book after already starting Riordan's second series (I'm currently about to start The House of Hades) and man, the contrast... Even though this is but a snippet of a story, it is still so much better than the second series. Maybe it's because I just love Percy's on point sense of humour or Grover's still being the clumsy sidekick, but darn it. So much more appealing.

I started reading this out of a sense of completion. I want to read every PJ story there is, because I want a complete view of the world. But I have to say, it was much more entertaining than the second series, it made me really miss the OG PJ series.
Spoiler And that means a lot when there's a plot that's so light it makes your head spin and involves tricking an automaton into signing jeans while the main character is dangling trouserless from a billboard sign...
