A Bike Like Sergio's
by Noah Z. Jones, Maribeth Boelts
Another interesting and complex story I read this to a class of kinder kids the same day as I read them "Those Shoes" by the same author.
A boy keeps a dollar bill he saw an adult drop only to find out it was a $100 bill. He's been really wanting a bike like his friend but his family couldn't afford it so he felt like this was his moment, but when he misplaces it he realizes just how the person who dropped it might be feeling. Another moral heavy story but I still found it pretty interesting to stop and discuss with the kids while reading because of the implicit sentences that require a bit deeper thinking.
And, again, another ending that surprised me with its bittersweet ending. I enjoyed it.
