Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh

4.0

I surprisingly really enjoyed this! It absolutely is as disgusting and horrific as people claim it to be, and in general the cast of characters are intensely dislikable (by design). Relative to other work by Moshfegh this is certainly more immersive - the inner workings of the Village of Lapvona were interesting to see and I liked how some of the subplots connected. It was somewhat predictable towards the latter half but the increasingly surreal and religious undertones were interesting!
