ragonmoss 's review for:
The Growing Summer
by Noel Streatfeild
I had never read this Streatfeild book, though I was a devoted "shoes" reader as a kid! And this one is a bit different than Streatfeild's usual playbook. There's still a family of siblings and the story focuses on one summer, but there's no ties to any performing arts and Aunt Dymphna is very different than the usual adults that populate her books. But it was very evocative and a nice change of pace. I think there were a few plotpoints that were underdeveloped (the runaway they hide for the most part) and maybe a little too slow to get started. But still a very lovely story!
