This book has been well-reviewed and there is some lovely writing in it. It worked in some ways as a coming of age novel. But I was disappointed that the characters weren't more engaging and the science better. I wonder if it would have been so raved over if it had not come out during such a time of unusual weather here. It paled for me in relation to the novels of Octavia Butler and films like "Another Earth."
