Minor: Animal death, Genocide, Racial slurs, Sexism, Fire/Fire injury
We start the book off and it's almost immediately Something is Wrong. Applegate does a good job of bringing this out somewhat slowly.
Then we start traveling through time! We end up at several major moments in history, many of them are battles, as the animorphs attempt to figure out where they are and who they need to protect in each place.
They deal with some tough stuff - racism in antebellum US, the pain and indignity of war throughout history, etc. Well done, but pretty dark, even for Animorphs. Seems like foreshadowing the rest of war-oriented series.
