The Women's War by Jenna Glass
3.0
2023 read:What a fantastic book. A feminist take on fantasy that doesn’t shy away from the brutality women face and how strong they have to be to overcome it. Down to the last gut-wrenching page, it personifies what it means to be a mother, daughter, lover, and leader. And how often do we get to see chapters of a story from the villain’s point of view.
It captures the #metoo movement while also showing that it is truly #notallmen and the parallels to our own world are simultaneously horrifying and vindicating. I cannot wait to read the rest of this trilogy and hope Jenna Glass will continue in this world!
Edited: really disappointed with how this series turned out. Initially a 5 star read but dropped it to 4 after finishing the trilogy. I almost wish I had let it stand on its own because now I just have a bad taste in my mouth about the whole series.
