I also didn't realize until right now that this was part of a series, so either books should do a better job of advertising that, or I should start researching a tiny bit more! I don't really like to read the back of most, because sometimes they can spoil too much, but it might have helped in this situation? This one definitely should have come with a few warnings, there were a lot of very difficult and serious topics going on, and wow there were so many characters (which kinda made me guess that it was part of a series too lol). I'm also a sucker for a Jane Austen retelling, and this was extremely well written, and the relationships were really beautiful.
