What a beautiful and potent book. While I wasn’t a huge fan of the incest angle, Osita and Vivek/Nnemdi’s love just feels very pure. Emezi has a very distinctive way of writing that I really enjoyed, especially their unapologetic mixing of African languages and English. I kind of wish that they hadn’t jumped around so much in the timeline (especially in the second half), as it made it kind of confusing, but contextual clues are enough to keep readers oriented in the right timeline so it ended up working out surprisingly well.
