Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

3.0

I think was probably my least favorite book of the series so far. Maas took on a new writing style, separating the plot into different POVs. However, I found the majority of the POVs boring. Manon did nothing for me, and at least at this point I don’t understand why we had to hear so much of her story. Dorians POV was basically in there just to make sure there was still romance going on. The addition of Rowan was annoying because I thought, “Yes of course.. we need to find a male version of Celeana. I see where this is going..” All the training with C&R was clearly the enemies to lovers troupe, and the obviousness of that was annoying to me. However, I think the last few chapters helped redeem the book. I think a big issue was that the book was setting up the foundation for future war, but it was executed in a poor/boring way. I do like Celeanas character development, though, as she learns to overcome her fear and claim her role as queen.
