The Grownup by Gillian Flynn

2.0

This book was annoying. First of all, publishing a really short story in hardcover is a weird idea but I got this book on Book Outlet so I don't feel like a total schmuck.
Anyways, I thought this book was indulgent and maybe even slapped together. It would have been better in an anthology of other stories because it could have hidden amongst better stories. It's that forgettable.
I thought the beginning of this story was completely unnecessary. The whole set up of the protagonist's day job, was purely for shock value and not even Gillian Flynn style shock value, just plain old, whatever--seriously?! It had nothing to do with the plot. Let's talk about the plot, shall we? Maybe Flynn could have stuck with one twist? Because several twists at the end with an ambiguous ending just left me rolling my eyes. Lame. This book was lame.
