One of the best thriller/detective novels I have ever read. The island of Lewis was beautifully described and the perfect harsh setting for this cold and sad story. The characters were very realistic and easy to imagine, living in such a hostile environment. The book balanced the past and present well and the twists and turns kept me guessing right up until the end.
