Diverse cast of friends and an awesome setting for a slasher story. However, (discussion of pacing/ placement of kills follows but no details of kills, killer, or victims) <spoiler > we don’t see a dead body until over 50% in and for me that’s too slow for such a short book. I personally want my horror a bit faster especially if they’re short. I’d prefer at least a body by the end of act 1. However I know that’s not for everyone and it comes down to personal preference. It does ramp up after the 50% mark but I still wanted more blood & tension in the latter half. this did not detract from the book being well written, fun, and suspenseful read. If you enjoyed the cheerleaders series by RL Stine back in the day or slashers in general you’ll have fun reading.
