I enjoyed this book but it’s definitely the one with the biggest book-to-movie changes thus far, though - and I honestly preferred the changes made in the movie (don’t disown me).
However, the plot moved along at a good pace. The evilness of Umbridge was shown much more in the books than it was in the movies, which I very much appreciated. I loved the backstory that the book paints at the end, as the movie glosses over it. I also love the increased involvement of centaurs, Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom, and of course the introduction of Luna Lovegood. While it was necessary for the plot of this particular novel, this was my least favorite era of Harry himself in the series thus far. The book gave clarity on the more vague aspects that were depicted in the movie.
Movie changes I preferred:
Movie Sirius > book Sirius (I really couldn’t stand him in this book)
Movie Luna > book Luna (I missed the sweetness to her character that is depicted in the movie?
Movie Cho > book Cho (I think the movie deeply redeemed her character, which was primarily a sobbing mess in this book 🤪)
Scene w/ Voldemort in the Ministry of Magic was better in the movie than in the book - I appreciated the possession part of the movie, in particular.
Overall a good read!
