Gloves Off
by Stephanie Archer
Gloves Off is the 4th book in the Vancouver Storm series written by Stephanie Archer. It’s about Georgia and Alexei, who are recurring characters in the first three books.
I really enjoyed the few glimpses of their dynamic in the previous books. Their banter and especially his seemingly grumpiness were truly entertaining and hit my nerve.
But most importantly: I liked both characters a lot and they were written in a very relatable way without being an athlete or doctor myself. Both carry a lot of emotional dead weight and have a turbulent history, but they keep being authentic and you are able to understand the motivation behind their actions and where they are coming from.
Gloves Off is a typical Grumpy/Sunshine trope, where she is the kind of fierce sunshine that burns your retina because she’s actual hellfire (get it? :)) Their differences create a delicious cocktail of tension and sizzling chemistry that is so well done that you can actually feel it on paper.
I was able to read this book in one sitting because it’s well written and fast-paced that you can really disconnect from the outside world.
’He loves me. I don’t know what the future holds, but he loves me, and I love him. I’m going to be happy, I’ve decided. I’m going to enjoy being in love.’
Yes, girl! Take the lead and be active in pursuing your happiness. I love a confident heroine who knows her worth and is not afraid to be herself.
I highly recommend Gloves Off, if you are a fan of well done communication between adults and an authentic relationship development of an unlikely pair.
